Default Anno tank Temp.

What's the best way to get the temps down in my anno tank?

I am using the standard bucket from caswell in a shop with ambiet air temp of low 80's (yeah no ac) My tank temp is around 74 - 77 I have tried icepacks but that didnt keep the temp down long I also tried placing the bucket in a larger bucket with ice/water however this was not that effective either.

I am open to your suggestions,
Dusty

Do you have a deep freeze? I chill extra acid, and exchange it when the temperature goes up

Yep just bought it last weekend however the wife wasnt to thrilled when I suggested that idea. I think I am going to put my tank in a large igloo icechest and fill the igloo with ice and water. She will let me keep bags of ice in the freezer...LOL!

1. Use a lower current setting and anodize for a longer period
2. Use a bigger volume of liquid, it will take longer to heat.
3. Place a coil of plastic tube in the bottom of tank and place another bucket of ice/water with the same tube running through it, then pump the liquid = heat exchanger.

Thanks Mike,

I was only running .33 amps for 120 mins per the 720 calculator. The heat is not from the process itself as the temp only increased about 1 to 2 degrees its the water/acid mix itself, it is already at 74 - 76 degrees before starting
due to the lack of AC and the 80+ degree ambiet air temp in the shop.

I hate to think what the temps might reach when it really get hot here in Texas !!

I think I will try the heat exchanger method.

Thanks again,
Dusty

I use a window air conditioner blowing into a wooden box (where my ano bath is housed). My tank temp is usually 77-78 here in the south. I turn it on; about 20 min later, its at 66* or so. I rigged the thermostat sitting in a 1/4" tube in the acid, filled with heat conducting paste. The unit comes on maybe twice to maintain 68-70* during a 2 hr run.

A 6-8000 btu window AC can be found for pretty cheap. Luckily I'm in the HVAC field, so I find them free

We've been using zip lock bags of ice just floating on the top of the acid. We can do 3 sq ft at 6ASF (18 amps total) in a 20 gallon tank. We just did 14 amps on a 90 degree plus day and had no trouble with it. You should have no trouble keeping .33 amps under control with this method unless that bucket is really small or the agitation is not good enough, we're using a pump for our tank. And we used ot use buckets inside of a large ice chest method too. We'd place about 6" of water or so in the bottom and put in ice when needed, worked fairly well as long as the load in both buckets was close to the same size. One bucket should work fine. We got tired of putting ice in the top of our tank and watching the temp, so I ordered a chiller yesterday.
