    Default Racking configurations ?

After 6 months of success with 1/8" aluminum wire for racking, Im ready to take it to the next level.

I know most people use titanium, but Ive never had a part fail with the stiff welding rods, and they are dirt cheap. Locally, I pay $5.00 per pound for 36" rods. After I cut 5 lbs in half, I have 300-400 racking wires. Last time I priced titanium 1/8 rod online, it was retarded expensive. Anyway...

I'm mainly interested in the Ti spring clips, tension racks, etc. Mainly where to buy them, or materials to make them. I'm mainly looking to speed up my racking process.

Thanks for any help, links to Ti sites, etc.

I bought my Ti rack, rods, and bolts/nuts from Servisure. The rack was not bad at all pricewise. Makes racking a breeze. The hardest thing is deciding on all the different styles they have. I'll get some pics of the rack I have.

Thanks. I called them up and am going to make an order on Monday. Neat configurations they have.

I'd love to see pics of people's racks, though.

I just bought about $100 worth of 1/8" TI from onlinemetals.com and then pick stuff up on Ebay when it comes along.

OK, big problems now. Ti wire and clips came in and things didnt go so smooth.

I made 3 small racks, with various small pins/clips mounted to them. After 2 bad runs, I did some tests. My Ti racks are pulling current with NO Alum. parts on them!

I thought Ti didnt anodize ?

Yes, Ti anodizes. It does not have to be stripped each time as aluminum does. You need to run the Ti alone at the CD you normally run to prime or cure the Ti racking. There are several terms used for this procedure. After approx. 20 min. the current demand will drop and stabilize. Make a note of the current draw for that particular rack setup. You may need to add that amount of current to your current setting for the parts you are doing if the parts SA is considerably smaller than the racking SA.
