Question maskin off quick question help please

hello all,
i have a quick question from one of my friends, i have done a search but thought it faster to ask you experts.
he wants his motorcycle wheels anodized but the Rims only, not the spokes, what is the process for preventing the spokes getten anodized? is it masking etc? if so what with?

They would need to be disassmbled, and only the rim anodized. I assume the spokes, etc. are a metal other that aluminum. You don't want ant foreign metals in your tank, masked or otherwise.

Hello Acidrain,
many thanks for your rapid reply, the whole wheel is aliminium, he wishes the rims to be white and the spokes red, so i have pre-empted and told him the whole wheel needs stripped, so there is no cross contamination.

You might let him know there is no white dye for ano... all of the "white" ano jobs are usually beadblasted, then ano'd clear. It's actually a gray if you put something white next to it. Here's an example:

yeah, i'd agree that the wheels should be disassembled. also, i believe most spokes are stainless. wait, what type of spokes are you talking about? like real spokes (like on bicycles... the ones with nipples to tighten the spokes) or like tri-spokes where the whole rim/spokes/hub is cast as a solid piece?
