Glass beads peen the surface to create thousands (millions?) of tiny dimples. It makes it kind of sparkly. There is really no other way to re-create that look in the surface of the aluminum.

Has anyone tried white pigment? I was thinking artist pigments like for watercolor or silk screening and thinned out a lot. Has anyone tried something like this? I have some "titanium white" artist pigment I thought of thinning and trying out. Any suggestions or warnings?

You can't get a white color anodize....anodize is transparent, so a white pigment will result in a grey final color.

What is the best grit of glass beads to get for bead blasting aluminum in general. 70 - 100 grit or 100 - 170 grit, or something else?

I'm not sure of the seive size, but they are smaller than you would expect... smaller than grains of sugar.

You can use larger grit beads for a bigger blast and it will give a higher reflective surface, A smaller grit will give a flatter look.
