color fade anno

I am looking to fade two different colors together on an annodized part. Would the process be as simple as dipping the 1st side in one color and the other in the next color. Or can I fade a solid color with a weak acid solution. If I dye a solid color then dip into a second color, will the colors mix or will the secondary color dominate? Appreciate the help in advance.
