Default I just can't figure this out.

Well lately I have been getting random dullish spots on my parts.I just cant figure out why these spots are coming up.I ran multiple guns and never had this problem. Some one suggested it being dissolution?Idk I gotta figure it out tho.To help yall out a little I'm gonna list my steps.

Rinse parts off in paint thinner to remove lube and dirt.
Drop parts in lye to strip them.
Drop and scrub in rinse tank.
Buff parts to a nice shine.
Clean the compound off with soap and water between and after each buffing step.
Rack parts.
desmut the parts with desmut running around 100*
Run parts at 6apsf with tank between 65 and 72.
dump in rinse bucket.
straight to dye.
straight to sealer running at 180.
dump in water.
spray and wipe down with wd40.
Then either smile or frown.

Any idea why these spots come up?

Dissolution doesn't spot. What size are the spots? Any changes to the set up or procedure? RO or distilled rinse water? Sealer age or is it cloudy?

After you polish, you really don't need to de-smut... de-smut after stripping, but before polish.
Some soaps will dull a polished surface... especially if heated (simple green, etc.), but I suspect if the dull spots are oval, well defined areas, it is the grain in the aluminum showing up. I've had this happen many times... especially on 'Timmy parts.

Is this what your finding? This had been clear anodized and this is what I came up with after stripping the part... They were very visiable when reanodized and dyed red.. Stripped and they were still there. Turned the part in to a satin finish to hide them...

Only use desmut after stripping.

Strip, rinse, desmut, rinse, dry.

Then blast or polish.

If I blast, I then go to hot, soapy water for a hard scrub with a toothbrush. Then degrease to pass WB, rinse, then to ano bath.

If polished, clean off polishing compound with a soft toothbrush and lacquer thinner, then a soft scrub with hot, soapy water with a soft toothbrush. Rack with gloved hands, degrease just long enough to pass WB (usually about 5-10 sec), then to ano.

Yes that is a massive aluminum grain running in that. Usually beadblasting will cover that up.

Ok, you say this is a massive grain showing up..I will assume this is from an inferior quality of aluminum? The manufacture of this part is indeed known for poor quality. Does a large grain in aluminum reflect this?
