I'm sick and tired of how hard it is to get rubber cement off of a work piece after a splash, so I was wondering if anyone's ever tried hot glue before as an alternative. I tried it out on an already sealed gun and it peeled right off.
I'm going to try this on tuesday, but I was just wondering if anyone's ever tried it before. The only thing I'm worried about is whether the dye will leech around the edges. |

really, the hot glue does?
EDIT - nevermind, I just retried hot glue and even if it did come off easy it's almost impossible to get a nice looking splash with it. So, does anyone have any suggestions for getting rubber cement off? I'm already totally submersing the parts in lacquer thinner and even if I scrub with a scotch pad I can never get all the goo off. you can use hot glue, I did both of these markers with it, I mainly use rubber cement or clear fingernail polish as my mask for splashes though...
![]() ![]() it does not make as definite of a line, though for those, that was not what I was going for, making hot glue perfect, if you are going for perfect lines though, hot glue is not the best of ideas, as it does not hold down tight in all cases, making for uneven masking. |
