Default Part not taking dye well

I've been having some trouble with this one part for a while now (an ego frame for you paintball guys). The weird part is that the first time I ran it I got a nice deep black, but there was one tiny little flaw so I decided to redo it. Now every time I run it it doesn't take dye very well at all.

Every time I strip it I get bad smut that is the same color as the previous anno and there are some streaks/blotches that only come off with heavy beadblasting. Also, I'm pretty sure it's not a bad connection since the voltage stays normal through the whole process and it's the only part I'm running.

ps - I heard someone say that these parts are 4000 series aluminum but I'm not sure how creditable that is.

Heavy blasting is probably your problem. Over-Blasting a part will cause it to ruin the surface of the metal.

I think you're right. I re-ran the part but this time I removed the blotches by extra stripping instead of blasting and it came out fine.
