Default Part wont retain dye

Hey everyone, i started anodizing a few months ago as a supplement to my hobbies. basically recently i have been doing parts and when iam done dying they look very nice and actually seem to have a satin texture when dry. basically after boiling the part (ive tried long periods aswell) it seems to retain the color until you go at it with a cloth. then half ~ of it comes off. any ideas on how to stop this? thanks!

Have you tried dumping your sealer tank and starting a new one? Sounds kinda like the dye could be leaching into the sealer bath.

Before you dump the sealer, are the wires anodizing? Usually when the dye won't take, it's because you lost connection sometime during the run. In that case, the aluminum hanging wires will ano, but not the parts.

the aluminum is taking some dye. the wires are anodizing. however the problem is that the dye wipes off. If the aluminum wasnt anodizing the dye wouldnt sick at all and would wash off.

as for the sealer iam using water and have changed it many times.

thanks!

check your anodizing parameters. You could be forming a soft-coat usually caused by high temperature, high concentration, or too low current. Soft coatings can wipe right off after sealed.

Sounds like dissolution. You will get excellent dye absorbtion, then after seal, you can whipe the coating off with your finger quite easily. Keep tabs on your anodizing time and temperature of the tank while your doing parts.

What power supply is being used and what current density are the parts run at?
