Default Power Supply Question

Is the Mastech HY3020E a good quality power supply for anodizing? Its linear and adjustable 0-30 Volts and 0-20 amps. I guess my real question is will it handle the small stuff accurately? I hate to buy a small PS and then have to buy another one. Or is it more accurate to use a 5 or 10 amp PS? I also have a question on the 720 rule. Are we supposed to figure both sides in the surface area? So if I have a square piece of 1/8" aluminum thats 5"x5" that would be 52.5 square inches?

The mastech units are pretty good... they're adjustable to within .1 amp, so even smaller parts are OK. BTW, whenevr I need to do 1 small part, I usually include a sacrificial part to spread out the current.
I use three of the Mastech units now, and have only had problems with one over the years... I had to send it back under warranty, but the company I bought it from took care of me. Be sure to ask your seller about warranty.
Yes, figure all surfaces in you SA calculations.
To convert sq.in to sq.ft., 52.5/144=.363888888sq.ft.
If you use 6 amps per sq.ft, that equals 2.18333 amps. Round up to 2.2amps.
Turn the volts all the way up and the amps all the way down. Turn on the power supply and slowly ramp up to 2.4 amps.
To build 1mil, run for two hours.

Ok, thanks for the info. I am still in the reading/learning stage right at the moment. I need to figure if I can keep the acid type part of the operation outside of my steel workshop so I don't rust out my building. Any advice on that?
Thanks,
Grumple

My calculator says 52.5/144 = 0.36458333333333333333333333333333. Did I miss a step for some tweaking allowance??

Never mind the last post by me as I forgot about the round error math stuff and have it sorted out. I couldn't edit as 60 minutes went by before I realized that.

I don't think you need to worry about rusting out your shop. You will want an exhaust hood though.

Are the Astron VS PS's any good? How do they compare to the Mastech units?
