Cathode material for Dip plating copy chrome

What should I use as the cathode (-) lead material if I am doing immersion plating with the PNP copy chrome (PNPCC9) kit? I have a bunch of small castle headed nuts I want to plate and it would be handy if I could make up a ring with all of them on the cathode lead, but what material should I use for this? Copper, SS, AL, bronze? I don't want to contaminate the PNP solution.

You won't hurt anything on the - side. Copper is pretty easy to find and and pretty much all I ever use.

I've been using copper wire and it seems to be working just fine even if it gets plated too.
