Hi,
I am new to the forum and Caswell products and like both very much so far. I have already learned a ton from the board in a very short period of time. Just getting back into polishing and looking to start electroplating. So here is my first question of I am sure many: How do you all advertise your copy chome service or parts? Do you say you chrome parts or you say you have near chrome capabilities? I am lost on this one but either way I'm buying some copy chrome Thanks, Gary |

I'm resurrecting this thread since Jim's site isn't up anymore. Does anyone have an answer? To a Joe Average, even polished aluminum gets called chrome - however, there are a lot of people that know their finishes. How do you advertise a copy chromed part? Saying copy chrome tends to put the rattle can chrome spray paint on the mind.

i haven't seen the parts first-hand, but if they can really pass as chrome and hold up like chrome, i'd call them chrome. if you still feel funny about that, i'd try calling it "***zinc-nickel-hydroneum*** chrome plating."
***i don't know what ***xxx*** is actually plating onto the substrate, but call it that. that way "chrome" is in there and if anyone calls you out, the process name is in there, too. i'd also spin it as having all the benefits of chrome but is environmentally friendly. green's all the rage now.

I like your thinking. I'm glad I wasn't the only one seeing the whole "Go Green" stunt as a good opportunity to promote it lol. Another thing is, so many things are sold as chrome, that aren't even "real" chrome. Plastics would be #1 on the list, which are usually done with that mystery vacuum thing. I for one, have never purchased a chrome plated plastic widget that was real triple plated. I'm going to abuse some of my copy chrome plated parts, and see how they hold up compared to how chrome would (water spots, dirt, grease, etc.)
