Default Preparation question

Hi, I just ordered a copy chrome plug and plate kit and have some questions about preparation. Here's the steps I plan to use for mostly bolts, washers and large nuts.

1. Clean/Sand and Buff Part.
2. degrease w/comet mixed with warm water. (1/2 hour soak)
3. Remove rust in muriatic acid/water.
4. dip in degreaser solution.
4. Spray part with distilled water.
5. Plug N plate.

Does this sound right? After I spray part with distilled water, should I let it dry then plate? Or can I plate right away after the distilled water spray? Thanks and wish me luck.

If you plan on blasting, always degrease first so you don't impregnate grease and oil deep into the metal during the blasting process.
