I'm using the immersion method with the plug n plate kit and the parts seem to be plated when I am finished, but after some time, a month or so, the parts seem to have large rust spots on them. See the pictures. I cannot feel any difference in level when I scrape a knife across the rusted area and the plated area, so it seems that there is rust coming through the plate?? I am polishing, then de-greasing with a carb cleaner and directly into the immersion for about 5 minutes or so with a current of 40ma per sq inch. What is this about?
Thanks, Dave |
