Angry Silvaspray with Copy Chrome

Tech support was no help. I need help from someone that has used Silvaspray with the Copy Chrome. I have tried it on plastic, paster and wood both with/witout primer befor using the Silvaspray. When I go to plate with Copy Chrome the Copy Chrome pulls the Silvaspray off the part and the only place the takes the the copper wilr attached to the part. I have tried about 30 parts all have be sanded and preped wearing gloves. Am I doing something wrong. I talked to tech support to see if I could send them a part, but they do not have any of the stuff setup to test the Silvaspray, they do not manufacture the product and assume it works. I need to talk to someone that has used the product with Copy Chrome and has got it to work.

Arrow Re: Silvaspray with Copy Chrome

I have used the silvaspray with copy chrome with no problems (on a variety of objects). It sounds to me like the silvaspray is not adhering properly to the substrate.

Are you using the caswell sealer concentrate on your substrate to close pores and provide a good surface connection? I have tried spray on lacquer with poor results. Caswell's sealer works well and is tested for use with silvaspray. Make sure you do several dunks on very porous materials (like wood). It's pricey, but it is in concentrated form and actually goes quite a long way.

While silvaspray accepts copy chrome directly, I also wonder whether the "peeling" you are talking about might be due to shrinkage or some similar effect within the copy chrome process. I usuall do a layer of acid copper before moving on to the copy chrome. If the first suggestion is already being done or doesn't work; you might try this next.

Good Luck!
