Hi Folks,
I am considering purchasing a copy chrome/acid copper kit for re-chroming plastic model kit parts. I spoke to Craig this after noon and he was very helpful and suggested this kit for my plating needs. I would like to hear from anyone that is doing the same thing and learn more about doing this. It seems that a lot of folks here are having problems with plating, but that seems to be with metals and not styrene plastic. If I can get proficient enough with this set up I would like to start a small side line business re-chroming parts for modellers as there are very few companies that do this kind of work, I know of only two right now but have seen others with much higher prices.
By what I have read on this forum, the plastic part should be very smooth, I already sand with 1500 grit sandpaper, should I get a higher grit. Next I would need to apply a clear lacquer coat to seal the styrene. Next would be to apply Silvaspray, I already use an airbrush, can I just load this up in my airbrush and shoot the part

Then comes the plating process, copper first then the final chrome plating. Is there any thing else I should be aware of or I missed
Thanks for reading.
Bob
