Copy Chrome over Alumilite Castings
I have some small 1inch by 0.5" by 0.5" plastic parts that I created using the regular Alumilite casting resin product. The surface is incredibly smooth and looks wonderful.
Now I would like to COPY CHROME plate this part. To that end I have a few questions:
1) does anybody in this forum have any experience with COPY CHROME over Alumilite that they can share their experience/results or pictures?
2) since the surface is already very smooth can I save cost by simply coating the part with SILVASPRAY and then plating with COPY CHROME over top? If I didn't use the acid copper layer will it adversely affect the finish quality or durability of the Copy Chrome layer.
3)other than washing the part is there any special surface prep I should do to the alumilite resin parts before I Silvaspray them?
4)How well does the COPY CHOME/SILVASPRAY bond the the alumilte resin casted part, will it be durable over time?
Thank you very much in advance for your help.
