Default Copy chrome different metals

I have a Fuel door cover that I want to copy chrome.* I have to make some repairs to the fuel door ( it has a slit )* that* I have to fix, Being very thin steel I would prefer to silver solder the slot to fix it* .* If I silver solder* the fuel door will copy chrome give the fuel door a uniform finish ( Color ) or will I see a color difference between the Silver soldered area and the steel area ** I there will be a color difference hgow can I fix that ?? Thanks for the replies.Richard
