Copy chrome different metals

I have a Fuel door cover that I want to copy chrome.* I have to make some repairs to the door ( it has a slit )* that* I have to fix Being very thin steel I would prefer to silver solder the slot .* If I silver the cover will copy chrome give the fuel door a uniform finich ( Color ) or will I see a difference between the Silver soldered area and the steel area
