Thread: Anode size to part ratio

Default Anode size to part ratio

Is the anode size to part ratio very critical for any of the platings (copper, nickel, chrome)? How big of item can I plate in a four gallon setup using the supplied anodes in the kit? Should I look into buying additional anodes? I have a set of copper anodes and nickel anodes leftover from a previous kit (Technics). Are all copper and nickel anodes made alike?

Yes, it's important. Positioning is more important than size though. You can always move your anodes around as the item plates.

See our tutorial on the web site about Understanding Anode Placement. http://www.caswellplating.com/movies/index.html.

Not all anodes are the same. Try a test first with a small amount of solution so you don't contaminate your entire bath.
