Re-plating new electroless nickel

Hi,
Is it ok to immediately (within a few days) re-plate new electroless nickel? I've just plated a part and decided that I want to sand smooth some defects (not all the way to the steel just smooth it out) and re-plate. Can I do that by the same process I used to plate the part the first time? Thanks so much.

You'll need to clean and activate the nickel plate but you can plate over it. Any time the nickel is exposed to air for more than an hour, consider it "dirty". For aluminum, it's minutes. You can dip the item in diluted sulfuric acid for about 30 seconds to activate it. Spray rinse and WBT then go directly to your plate tank.
