Plating time

Seeing as I am unable to copper or chrome plate at the moment.
I'm wondering if it is ok to nickel plate stuff and store it until I can get the other plating sorted which could take a couple of weeks.
And if I can store it is there any thing I will need to do before chrome plating.

Yeah you can do it. You'll have to activate the nickel 'fore you plate it though. Either you can lightly buff it, my pref. being clear coat safe rubbing compound with charmin t.p. or you'll have to activate it. You can cathodically clean it, or you can use 15% sulfuric for 5 minutes, 15% muriatic for 1 minute, or just hang it dead in the chrome bath for 30 sec's. If you don't activate it the nickel just will not take the chrome, so you'll have to do something. But if your doing this early in the game, I'm really hoping your just doing it on practice parts.

Well they are practice parts, just nuts and bolts so I wasn't bothered how they turned out, but they came out so well I may as well keep em and start doing the rest till i can get the chroming up and running.
