Default How do I filter my 1.5 gallon zinc bath?

Does anyone have a quick and easy way to filter the crud out of my zinc bath? What is this orange sludge anyway? Is there a way to stop it forming?

I think the material is loose corrosion products.
Anyhow, I filter my electrolyte bath in my 1.5 gallon tanks (pails) after every weekend session.
I took a plastic yogurt container and drilled many 1/4 inch holes in the bottom and side up about 1 inch.
I then put a paper coffee filter in the bottom of the yogurt container, dampen it so it sticks and pour my electrolyte through it, into a funnel, then into an old DI water container.

I hope this helps. Keep everything clean!

Thanks Fast LJ. I would still like to know what the orange sediment is and if it can be reduced.

I found it took less time to filter by allowing the crud to settle and then pour off the clean bath and just filter the last bit with the dregs.
