Default Removing blistered chrome from aluminum wheels?

I'm wondering if anyone has come up with a relatively quick way to remove chrome from aluminum wheels. I have several motorcycle wheels that the chrome has blistered on, I wish to remove all the chrome and have them rechromed at a later date. The chrome itself is only on the outside edge of the wheel(I'm still trying to figure out how they originally did that) I'll them polish the edge for the new chrome.
Local chromers have not been any help, you'd think they'd at least point me in the direction, after all, they'll get to do the actual chroming.

Thanks again.
