Who here chromes?

HI, i'm 15 and want to start chroming. how many of you here have chrome plated and is around my age? i want to chrome various parts for my goped(hence my name) will i be able to chrome(triple chrome plate) with my age? or does it require more skill. like adults?

We've had people your age use our kits successfully before, but take note:

1. Chrome is an acid. It burns. It corrodes and it has been proven to cause cancer in lab animals. Don't get it on yourself or breath in fumes. Use with extreme caution.

2. Chroming requires large amounts of power. You should only operate a plating set-up with an adult present.

no you made me scared lol. so what should i wear to prevent me inhaling this stuff? and where should i perform it. outside? or inside in a garage with the door open?

Rubber gloves, apron, eye protection and a respirator with acid/gas cartridges.

You can get a respirator for $20 or so from a DIY store like Building Box. Make sure to get "Acid/Gas" cartidges for the respirator.

The chrome kit comes with a fume control system, but better safe than sorry.

In the garage is generally the best place.
