Default copy cad question

after i bead plast my fasters for plating, should i do any thing else before i put them the in the copy cad solution? the book implies going straight from bead blast to the coyp cad. seem like some cleaing should be required. like muratic acid or sp degreaer.

please advise.

The instructions are correct. Put the part straight into the plating tank.

Default copyvcad questions

I'm doing nut and bolts. How do i determine the surface area in order to calculate the 25ma per sq inch. do you go by the weight of the nuts and bolts?

regards, Chuck

You are confusing two completely different things

Surface area has no bearing on mass - or weight

For example:

a 1" cube of marshmallow = 6 sq" surface area and 1/100 oz in weight
a 1" cube of lead weight = 6 sq" of surface area and weighs 1/2 lb (approx)

Default copy cad questions

I understand weight and area are completely different. I'm trying to understand how you determine an easy way to determine the surface area of a bucket full of small nuts and bolts. do i need to calculate the area of each bolt and nut and add them all together to determine the amound of current to use?

I was thinking that for each pound of typical automotive nuts and bolts, so much current would be applied.

I'm wondering how many of the nuts and bolts i do at one time. I have the one gallon cad kit.

Thanks for the help, i'm wanting to do the plating and any help would be greatly appriciated. Chuck

Logic would assume that the ONLY way that might work would be if you measured the square inch surface area of each type of part AND its weight, and then used that to estimate a batch of ONLY that type of part. For EXAMPLE; if 1 bolt were a total of 1 square inch and weighed 1/10th of a pound, then if you had a batch that weighed 1 pound, you could estimate 10 square inches, but ONLY if A) each part was identical in size and weight, and B) you didn't add any other different parts without adding their surface area in the same manner. But you'd still have to measure each part the first time, and you'd be hard pressed to extrapolate from one size of part to another just by weight.
