Not at all the same - this is NOT a real chrome plate.
If you're interested in a real chrome plate over plastic, you'd need to spray it with a metal filled spray, then triple chrome plate. We have the materials to do this, but historically customers have found it tedious and difficult, which is why we introduced SilvaChrome as an alternative for people who wanted a chrome like finish, but didn't care if it was real chrome. For conductive sprays and SilvaChrome, go to http://www.caswellplating.com/kits.htm and go down to the "Plating Non-Conductive Items" section.
