Default Plating watch cases.

Greeting.

My name is randall, and this will be my first post ever. I`m a independent watchmaker, and I`m wanting to be able to replate watch cases, and hands. I`m strugeling right now with a set of hands I`m trying to plate. They needed to be refinished due to scratches, nicks and corrosion. I`ve been able to polish them to what I think is good enough for plating. I`m using a plating pen, and rodium solution. The hands are brass. I keep getting a oxidised, or blackened finish. I found your site and am wondering if you have products and techniques that will help my achiebe a factory finish on first these hnads, and them in the future, Id like to do cases too, in both nickle, and gold plating.

Furthermore, Id just like to say thank you for the site, it really looks like your targeted at, and endervor to help the DIY. In watchmaking, most of the true secrets are being held in close secrecy by the very few who know.

Thank you,
Randall

Hi there:

We don't supply a rhodium kit, but you could be using too much power and burning your parts.

What is your power source?

You might want to check out our Plug N Plate kits, which provide an easy to use, inexpensive, solution to brush plating most metals, including nickel and gold, onto small parts.

Randall:
Your sure you have the leads hooked up correctly? (ive done it more then once!)
POS. goes to the part
NEG. goes to the plating pen
Like Mike said, what type of power source are you using?
What are the amps/watts and the volts?
