I'd like to gold plate a nickel-plated chalice (12" tall x 4-3/4" dia) and a paten (8 1/3" tall x 8 3/4" dia (looks like a standing cake-plate)). Which is the best kit to do this with? I'm a newbie at plating, so any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Andy
As these items are fairly large, you'd ideally want to immersion plate them.
The problem with this, is that you'll need to purchase enough gold solution to completely immerse the parts. To find out how much you'll need, fill a bucket with water and immerse the parts, then measure the volume of water. I'm betting it would require 2-3 gallons.
As you can see from our web site, gold solution is not cheap. 2 gallons is $345.00.
For this reason, most people use our Plug N'Plate kits when gold plating. They work just as well as immersion plating, but are just slower.
