Default Doh! reverse polarity on a nickel run, now won't plate.

Hi all,

I pulled a stupid and hooked up reverse polarity on a nickel kit while trying to plate a piece of copper. This covered my nickel anodes with a copper plate.

I stripped off the copper from the anodes. But now my solution seems to be contaminated. Can anyone suggest if I need new solution, or would a high amp plate of a corrugated piece clear it?

Thanks,
Andy

Check with caswell and see if it is safe to put the nickel anode into picle solution if you have some. I use coper wire for work holders and my pickel tank always strips the wire clean. I stress to check with caswell about chemical reaction first

Yes.
What you are describing is called dummy plating. Dont go with high amps though. Use low amps and let it plate for 15 min. Then try a peice of copper and see how the nickel plate comes out.
Keep doing this until your nickel plating works as it should.
