Gold Plating for Corrosion Protection

I am considering gold plating some of our 316 Stainless Steel lab equipment for better protection from acid corrosion. I need recommendations for which method best to use (over nickel vs. direct gold on stainless), which solution (regular tank plating vs. fast gold) and how thick for best protection. Appearance does not matter that much but probably least porosity.
