Hello,
I noticed your post has been up awhile; not sure your question has been answered. In my opinion, as a general rule, there is no substitute for tank plating a flash plate. It will be more even and will get into all the areas that you can't reach with a hand wand. A lot depends on the base metal. If the electroless is not compatible with some base metal, then a nickel flash applied with a wand may leave too many voids for a tank plating in electroless later. What is the base metal? Kind regards, Ken |

If you are plating steel, then there is no need to apply any 'flash' plate. Just go directly to EN.
