Default Flash nickel?

Caswell-

I just read that electroless nickel can be plated directly over electrolytic nickel. So.... would a nickel strike from the pnp kit be enough base to them put it in the electoless?

Thanks,

Seth

Hello,

I noticed your post has been up awhile; not sure your question has been answered.

In my opinion, as a general rule, there is no substitute for tank plating a flash plate. It will be more even and will get into all the areas that you can't reach with a hand wand.

A lot depends on the base metal. If the electroless is not compatible with some base metal, then a nickel flash applied with a wand may leave too many voids for a tank plating in electroless later.

What is the base metal?

Kind regards,
Ken

Gun steels of different types. I am going to do the barrel and frame as a unit. The cylinder and some other parts as individuals.

If you are plating steel, then there is no need to apply any 'flash' plate. Just go directly to EN.
