plating aluminum

I have had some bad results trying to plate an aluminum pulley.First i sand,clean with soft scrub, degrease,zincate, copper plate. The plate bubbles up.I have tried diff. combo's of cleaning. Steel plates perfectly.I have the copy chrome kit. Thanks
