Is thin sheet acrylic ok for masking?

I did not see reference to masking materials in the manual. I saw reference to Plexiglass, but do not know if thin sheet, say .060 inch thick, will degrade or spoil the batch. Please let me know of any other acceptable masking materials...tape? specifically, for hard chroming. Thank you.

i use tape all the time in my nickel tank for masking and all is well so far.
