Default Constant Current

I've have just purchased a 0-14 amp varible power supply with auto current control. My question is should I be able to adjust the current output before I put a load on it? Thanks for any help you can give.

No.
Your current meter will read zero until you do place a load on the power supply.

Thanks for your help. I was pretty sure that was right. Trying to get the basic electronics cob webs cleared out.
