copy chrome over silvaspray-help needed

Hi Im trying to plate some plastic parts so Ive got silva spray and a copy chrome kit. Thing is can't get the copychrome to take to the silvaspray well.
Tends to come out a slightly different grey than when it went in. Buffing sometimes brings out a shine (Im fairly sure its plate not silver).
Anyone had problems with this, or is this grey coating normal?, any hints to help?

The best way I have found to use silva spry is use a copper strike then acid copper then Copy Chrome
