nickel plating

This is the fist time to use the nickel electroplating kit. Where is the best place to place put the nickel plates in the tank? The first time you heat the water to dissolve the powder materials , does it matter what type of container you use, ss, aluminum, or plastic? How do place the items to be plated in the tank and in what position? Any help would be appreciated.

Read your manual, if you don't have one, get it. All of these questions will be answered by the manual except for one. You can heat the water in any CLEAN container, just make sure you only plate with the plastic one.

your post is to open ended. is your tank round,square,oval?? are you plating both sides of an item?? what type material are you going to plate with the nickel??

I'm in complete agreement with bhhodges.

In addition, I would be nervous about mixing any of these solutions in a metallic container. For a couple of bucks you can buy a 5 gallon white plastic bucket at Home Depot if you need one in a pinch.

The plating solutions are rarely neutral pH. It doesn't take much metal contamination to cause plating problems later.
