Default chroming before or after welding

I am interested in chrome plating some furniture peices. I could make them of steel or aluminum. I have some questions about the size. As they are too large to fit in any bucket (obviously) do i make them in peices, do the plating, and then attach the peices? Will welding affect the chrome? Or, am i looking for a larger setup than is advertised on this site?

Are you talking about tables, chairs, or maybe a couch? Can you give some sort of idea on size and configuration? I take it's bigger than a bread box but smaller than an auto. The more information you can give, the better the forum can answer. Yes welding can affect chrome. SS

yes, well i think i would start with a chair, or even smaller, and ottaman. I have never done plating before. I usually work in steel with a mig welder. If i had to send an entire peice, say a large chair out to a small business to be plated for me, how much do you think it would cost? Or, can i do it myself? I have worked with auto-body painting on a large scale as far as furniture peices are concerned. I know i can handle that in my studio. Do i need a huge setup for this scale of chroming job, basically is what i am asking. And, am i setting myself up for a very expensive procedure?

The forum still needs a little more info to give an educated answer. For instance, are the pieces you want to chrome a tube frame design or a larger piece such as the old all steel lawn chairs. What is really needed is the approx. surface area of the largest piece you would want to do. If you plan large plate parts, you will need a large wallet just for a power supply big enough to accomadate the current demand needed.

FYI - The internet is sometimes slow only click once on submit. If you clicked several times paying for something, you would pay several times.
