Default colored chrome?

i have been seeing places offering color chrome red,blue, purple ect... is the a true top coat or just powder coated ?

Reason i am asking i am looking in to getting my fuel rails chromed then i was going to powder coat a candy over it ..

I had the same question. I thought some places were claiming there could be a dye added, but maybe I misread that.

that is what i was told when they chrome it they add some thing to it to give it color .. is this true? casue if it is i got some plating i want to have done

Default Chrome is Chrome

Chrome only has one color. There are a number of different things that may be called 'chrome' but the truth is, YOU CANNOT COLOR CHROME.

Aluminum can me made to look very shiny by polishing then anodizing, then dying almost any color.
You could spray a transparent colored lacquer over a polished metal surface.

However, YOU CANNOT COLOR CHROME.

There are some spray on 'silvering' processes that apply a thin layer of silver, and then lacquer a transparent colored lacquer. But IT AIN'T CHROME!!!!!!
