I need to get setup to hard chrome small engine crankshaft rod throws.I will need to make some sort of sealed mold so as not to get any chrome onto the crankshaft counterweights. the throws that I will be hard chroming are "1.00 diameter and .94 wide. what actually is hard chroming? what chrome depths are attainable? does this sound feasable with a setup from caswell? btw the hard chrome will be ground on a crankshaft grinder after plating.
Thanks |

Our manual has the most extensive section ever seen on hard chroming. Buy a copy - online or hardcopy.
It will answer ALL of your questions

Thank you both for the posts! I just want to make darn sure that the system I buy will do what I need it to do.It dont look to me like there are a lot of hard chromers hanging out in here.I need to buy a conventional system sort of soon but want to make sure that in 6 months I dont say I wish woulda bought this or that. just trying to do as much research as possible.
Is it gonna take buying the manual to determine if the caswell system is what I need? I really dont think I have enough knowledge of plating to even make an educated guess. thought I would ask here first. please reread my post and just answer some of my questions that is all I am seeking. Thank you ! I know just enough to know that I just don't know! |

You probably ant gonna get anyhere talking like that. Maybe a man with a business doesn't have time to talk like the some of you with questions and want a answer with in the next few minutes. If you need answers that bad just call the company and get a help tech. You sound like a woman on her monthly so called exuse for a problem. On the other hand if you are plating the crank, you need to remember that when you plate you have to keep in mind that you need to know how much to plate, unless you are machining the part to your specs. Because other wise you will have a uneven race for the bearings. It sounds like alot of work for just a few parts. |

Chill out dude. Somewhere on these forums it says that if you need immediate techinical support to call or email Caswell directly. Caswell has stated on numerous occasions that these forums are here to allow users of their products exchange ideas and experiences. The forums are not monitored regularly by Caswell and are not supposed to be used for immediate support. Caswell is pretty well known for their customer support and it is one of the reasons most people here do business with them. If you have spedific questions about their products pick up the phone and call them or go to the main website and get their tech support email address and send them a message. There are eight different forums on this board and quite a few post every day. It just doesn't make sense for Caswell to scan through all these forums looking at messages that mostly don't require their attention.
