Default Heaters for a 45 gallon tank

I am setting up a tank out of a chemical grade Plastic 55 gallon barrel. And was wondering if a hot water tank heat with a thermastate would work? The electrode on the element is copper. Would this affect any of the tank? ( Looking for a cost effective way to heat 45 gallons ) Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks jsnow2060

You can't have any metal parts inside the tank. Your copper element would cause major problems.

Do you have our manual? There is a good section in there on heating up large amounts of solution.

You didn't say what was going in the tank. Thats very important. Using mains electric heater that are metal could be VERY dangerous.
