I have some mild steel parts that I am going to plate and I started to wonder if I should Nitrocarburize them before plating. It will make the part stronger and more resistant to corrosion, but I’m worried about a few things.
The surface is going to be slicker after this treatment so will the nickel take onto it? Also, will the base color of the steel (jet black probably) effect the color of the nickel after plating? I’m going to use Boron nitrate Nickel instead of just regular nickel, but the two processes are very similar from what I’ve read. |
