If I am plating a 16 sqaure inch piece and it calls for 1 amp does it matter if it comes from a 12 volt battery or a 6 volt battery or a battery charger or a rectifier. I am using a nichcrome wire board.
thanks for any imput. By the way I just got my new setup and this is my first post. So howdy all. |

In the case of chrome plating, a battery charger tends to have too much ripple, a battery or rectifier is a much better choice. For nickel, copper ect. ripple doesn't matter as much. Most people say that 6V is better than 12V, but I don't know the reason, either will work.

It's all to do with ohms law. so the lower the voltage, the less resistance wire you'll need to drop the current. Just remember that the end result of placing a resistance in a line is that the amperage is dropped, and so is the voltage. So, a 6 volt battery may drop to 1 or 2 volts AFTER the resistor.
