Thread: gold plug n plate over nickel plate

Default gold plug n plate over nickel plate

i have some small parts that have been engraved in solid brass then have been nickel plated at my nearest plating company. i have just purchased the gold plug n plate kit as i want to dual plate the parts.
The raised areas of the plates will be gold plated and the un-raised areas will stay as Nickel. My question is what is the best way of protecting the nickel so as i don't gold plate the areas i don't want gold plated.
    thanks

you could use laquer paint and use paint remover to take it off when you are finished. Or you get get electroplating tape and mask it.

As long as the gold solution doesn't disolve the nail polish. Try it and find out.

The gold won't touch nail polish. You can use nail polish as a masking agent without a problem.
