Guys,
I am upgrading from 4.5 to about 20 gal triple chrome setup. Even with my current system, my nickel plate has little pits which are sometimes hard to buff out. Peroxide seems to help and I do have good agitation (standard Caswell pump). Gee what's gonna happen when I go to 20 gallons. Any suggestions on air systems ? Do they Help ? Is this something I can do with aquarium parts ? |

You need the air, but it sounds like the amps are too much try lowering the amps... the size of set up does not matter, its how you use it, is what matters.

Thanks Fly. What about recommendations for the chrome tank ? I have no agitation in this tank simply because the Caswell manual doesn't mention any. Basically I move the part by hand during plating to release the bubbles which form on the surface. Is aeration a good idea here ?

NO, I dont even move the part during plating, the only thing agitation would be good for is to help heat the tank up.

Pits in nickel could be contaminates in the bath, but it is most likely due to lack of contamination. Power to high WTF? If you are going to 20 gallon, then you are definatly going to have to change to an air system with a diapham pump. I use air in my 4.5 gallon setup. You shouldn't move the part in the chrome.
