Aux. anodes

This week I had a clutch cover from a gsxr 600 that just would not chrome plate all the way. So after talking with a guy from another forum a few months back, I decided to try what he told me about aux. anodes. It realy worked after the 2nd time I decided to try his way and not mine, so what I did was taped the hanger that I was using all the way down to where the part was and stoped where the part touched the hanger, and then I used a piece of copper wire and wraped it around the hanger about middle way from the part so that it could not move, then bent the wire around the part that was hanging so that the wire was close to the part but not touching the part. Then attached a jumper wire from the pos. wire in the chrome tank and attatched the other end of the jumper to the wire on the hanger to make the aux. anode. Then lowered it in the tank and hit it hard and out came a completly chrome cover.

Hey fly, by creating this "aux anode" basically a copper wire suspended around the part it created the necessary electricity to flow around and completely chrome the part.. cool I think.. now my question. did the copper wire get coated? should have, and the next - was the wire eaten up or corroded? I was also concerned about impurities in the solution, any evidence? Thanks, hope you get this. carl b.
