Gold Plating on Stainless

I am looking at getting Caswells Stainless Steel Activator For Gold but want to make sure it is going to work.

I am going to be plating stainless steel, and I am using a Pen Plating system.

Here is the exact plating system that I will be using.

I was wanting to make sure that the Activator will work with this pen set up and on stainless?

Also with the activator will I apply the activator then the gold solution or do I also need to put a coat of nickle as well.

Any help or suggestions will be great.
