Why don't parts stick together?

I was wondering, when tank plating, if the part has moveable pieces (like a watch band or necklace) why don't the pieces weld together into one solid object?

If the lead is attached to the end, then there must be a connection between the links in order to carry the currant through the whole piece. It seams if the parts are attatched to carry curant the gold or what ever would plate it all as one piece filling in any links where they touch each other. Is there something we need to do to prevent this, or does it just not happen?

The parts will fuse if plated very heavily, but otherwise won't fuse together.

You mean if I had a necklace I wanted to plate I have to break all the links apart before tank plating??

I shall forgo some jewerely platting I was planing on doing then I am sure.

Actually I thought from what I read I could replate jewlery for customers in just a few minutes with a tank plating setup, obviousily if I had to take apart all the links and put it back together I couldn't do that then.

So the expandable metal watch bands would be impossable to do?

Also if plating items with a pen that run on batteries like watches, is it harmful to the watch? Magnetize it or damage the circiut? Don't want to ruin a good working watch makng it pretty. Would I need to disasemble it before platting the case?

You should be brush plating all these parts. Brush plating will work very well.

You can buy a tank plating set-up, make or buy a brush plating wand, and use the solution from your tank to brush plate.
