Default power supply

What would you recomend for a power supply?Amps and volts.I am an industrial electrician and can make what ever is needed.I intend for bike wheels to be the largest parts to be copy chromed. thanks, Shawn

Caswell has an idea using 34 & 1/2" lengths of #18ga nichrome wire attatched to bus bars from a residential power supply box. Each strand will give a resistance of 1.2 ohms. Using a 12v battery one lenght of wire will limit current to 10A, 2 - 20A, 3 - 30A and so on.

YOu want amps, 300 or more would be best for rims, but I don't know anything about copy chrome. Most of your smaller stuff will get by with 100 amps.

When you are plating with copy chrome you will need one amp per 32sq inches copper need one amp per 15 to 16 sq inches chemical stripping need one amp per sq inch i have a few power supplies the small one puts out 1.5amp max large one puts out 35amp max

Thanks Jim,35 amps seems alot easier to get than 300.
