Default yellow/gold color on steel
I need to duplicate a yellow/gold type finish on small steel automobile parts. the original finish was probably not plated on.
what system could be used to duplicate this look?

You probably are looking for a yellow chromated zinc coating. See http://www.caswellplating.com/zinc.htm - assuming that when you say "yellow/gold color" you don't mean an actual gold plate.
